Bossy Beulah’s

$1.00

This is one of my favorite casual fast-food places in town. They specialize in fried chicken sandwiches, and they are simply amazing. According to the website, the restaurant is named after the owner, Chef Jim Noble’s great-aunt Beulah, who he reveres as “hands-down the best at making fried chicken”. The main sandwich on the menu (“The Beaut”) is a huge hunk of perfectly seasoned and perfectly fried chicken breast… or you can get a chicken thigh version. The fries also equally steal the show, in my opinion. They are the kind of fries I love — with the skins on them. (These fries are also offered at their affiliated restaurant next door, Noble Smoke — woohoo!) There are other sides available as well as salads. And don’t forget to add some sauces to dip your fries or to slather on your chicken sandwich! There are three locations within Charlotte city limits.

Style: Fast Casual

Reservations: Not that kind of place

Meals: Lunch/Dinner

Neighborhoods: Wesley Heights, South End, & Ballantyne

Addresses: 2200 Freedom Dr; 2932 Griffith St, 15110 Bowl St
