This delicious bbq joint was an early discovery for me located in my first neighborhood in Charlotte — Plaza Midwood — which is the reason for the name of this restaurant. As per their website, they feel that “it’s not just about the food; it’s an experience”. And the experience is rooted in the food. Their “traditional barbecue techniques” yield flavorful quality meats that don’t even need bbq sauces to have you licking your fingers. And ooh boy, those hush puppies are so good. They have lots of great sides to choose from including some of the best collard greens in town. And don’t forget to try their mac & cheese. I loved their food so much that I used them to cater my housewarming party when I first moved to this city. As per the usual practice, their bbq can be served in a sandwich or as a plate with sides. And lucky for us, they have a few tacos as well, including their take on a quesabirria taco. They also have some killer appetizers including nachos, pimento cheese fries, and wings!
