Event #7- Yunta Nikkei - June 26, 2025

The Monarch’s List Dinner Social Club enjoyed a jumpin’ evening at Yunta Nikkei in the South End of Charlotte! This is a Peruvian-Japanese restaurant with a menu full of amazing culinary choices. That may sound like an odd combination of cuisines, but there is a whole history of why and how the Japanese culture became an integral part of the country of Peru.

Peruvian-Japanese culture, also known as Nikkei culture, is a unique blend of Japanese and Peruvian traditions, particularly evident in cuisine, arts, and community life. It arose from Japanese immigration to Peru, beginning in the late 19th century, and subsequent cultural exchange and fusion.

Now, back to the evening at hand. The food at Yunta Nikkei is phenomenal! The service was great as well. This is one of my top restaurant spots in Charlotte!

You can see in the pictures below how beautiful and appetizing the food is here. Somehow I forgot to take a picture of the Arroz Chaufa (chicken & pork fried rice) that most of the attendees ordered including myself. Probably because I’ve had this scrumptious dish before, and I was so anxious to devour it – photographs be damned! I also neglected to take a picture of the live DJ booth spinning tracks for everyone to bounce to while we dined. This place has such a great energy!

The MLSDC might have to return here really soon!

Thank you, Yunta Nikkei, for accommodating our party so wonderfully!
